I promise to provide you with a complete and personalized service. I will guide you through every part of the process, from your consultation, to a fun, stress-free session, to receiving your finished prints.
Before Your Session
Prior to your session we will have a consultation either in-person, via email, or on the phone to go over what ideas you have for your portraits. We’ll discuss all the details such as what type of products you’re interested in, locations you love, and what to wear.
You will then receive an email from me where you can pay your session fee and complete a New Client Agreement. Your session date is held on the calendar once both the session fee and agreement are returned.
If you need special accommodations or have any concerns, such as mobility issues, super shy kiddos, etc. please talk with me ahead of time so that we can be prepared for the best possible session!
Choosing aLocation
I am a family photographer who works all over the Portland/Vancouver metro area on-location, as well as in my downtown Vancouver studio. When deciding on a location for your family photo session, it’s important not to make a choice based only on what is visually pleasing. Consider the places that mean the most to you – where did the most special moments of your life take place? What location says something about you, who you are, and what you love? Choosing a spot that evokes memories or emotions will help you to be relaxed during the photo session, and it will add an extra layer of depth to your portraits. I have many suggestions for great local spots as well!
Extended area locations are available for a nominal travel fee; the Pacific Northwest has such amazing natural beauty, so let’s go explore! From the Oregon Coast, to waterfalls in the gorge, to central Oregon or Seattle, we can customize a truly amazing experience.
I suggest shooting as close to “golden hour” as possible. That’s the time of day us photographers get all giddy about because the light is so soft and beautiful, and you won’t have to deal with any harsh shadows or squinty eyes.
My Approach
My sessions are very relaxed and flexible. As a family photographer, I want to capture the wonder and personality of your life as it is now, whatever that encompasses. We’ll get a great mix of smiling, looking-at-the-camera shots, and more candid, interactive images.
Feeling nervous about being in front of the camera? Believe me, I’ve been there, too! I know how intimidating it can be to be photographed, so I will spend time getting to know your family, letting you loosen up, and coaching you through easy & natural actions to help you interact with your children and create real and authentic moments that you’ll treasure forever. I promise to make you look your very best!
